The Income-Driven Repayment Plans are good for our clients who are unemployed and who have already exhausted their eligibility for unemployment deferment, economic hardship and forbearances. These repayment plans may be a good option for our clients after the payment pause and interest waiver expires. There are four plans that tie your monthly federal loan payments to how much you earn, and clients in these plans can have their balance canceled after 20 or 25 years. At the end of the term, any remaining loan balance will be forgiven. With this plan your monthly payment is based on your income and family size. Alot of our clients qualify for payments of $0.
The Student Loan Rehabilitation Program is the best option in most cases when our clients are in default. This is because it’s the only plan that removes the default from your credit report, though previously reported late payments will remain. Which is where our Credit Restoration can help with the previously late payments. Our clients in this plan, must make nine monthly loan payments within 10 consecutive months. Once they have completed this process, we can then place them into the income-driven repayment plan.
You can only rehabilitate your student loan once.
The Public Service Loan Forgiveness is always where we want our clients with careers in firefighting, teaching, government, nursing, public interest law, the military and religious work. To qualify, clients must make 120 on time monthly payments for 10 years to have the remaining balance of the loan canceled and non taxable. They must work for the government or certain nonprofits.
Our clients with Military Service to the country comes with a host of educational benefits, including various student loan repayment programs. Active-duty soldiers in the Army, for instance, are eligible for up to $65,000 in cancellation if they agree to three years of service. The same is true for those who enlist in the Navy.
The Total and Permanent Disability Discharge Plan is for our clients who has been declared by a physician, the Social Security Administration or Department of Veterans Affairs to be totally and permanently disabled. If this has been done then our client is eligible to have their federal student loans discharged. There is a lot of paperwork required for this plan but it is always worth the process.
